Event Manager

Job description:

The Event Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and running the 2026 Saint Patrick’s Day Society Breakfast event for St Patrick’s Center, a nonprofit social service organization in Wilmington’s East Side neighborhood. The manager is the primary liaison between the Center and the St Patrick’s Society.

The Saint Patrick’s Day Society was established in 1994 and created an annual fundraiser to benefit the local Wilmington community. The annual event raises over $250,000 for St Pat’s on a budget of $35,000, and a volunteer group of two-dozen, who raise funds from individuals and businesses throughout the state of Delaware.

This position is for the March 2026 event which kicks-off in mid-September 2025 and concludes in mid-April 2026. The event includes a Mass, parade, and entertainment event at the HOTEL DU PONT for over 400 guests. This is a new position for the organization with a goal of establishing a full-time, permanent event manager position to expand revenue and exposure for the mission of St Pat’s.

Job Duties

Event Planning and Execution

  • Plan and execute the 2026 Saint Patrick’s Day Society Event
  • Coordinate with St Pat’s staff for needed supplies
  • Coordinate all vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate all labor and material needs
  • Manage event costs and budgets
  • Process and track donations in coordination with St Pat’s bookkeeper
  • Track and report event outputs

Skills and Qualifications

  • Project management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings.

Additional Information

  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • The work schedule is flexible but includes occasional evening meetings and attendance at the event.
  • This is a temporary position for the 2026 event, not to exceed $18,000. If a full-time position is developed, the salary range is expected to be $40-45K.
